Disney uses audience pleasures by having lots of very different content to make all demographics happy like having children's shows adults would not be interned in this so this is why there is different content

LO2: Tasks 1-4

Task 1: Job Roles and Skills


I am going to investigate audio visual and find job roles in the sector 
audio and visual I will also be investigating the role of a cameraman.  

1. Camera man 

Operate a camera and Camera operators must be creative. They need excellent visual skills and eye-hand coordination. The ability to pay attention to detail is also essential. 

2. Director 

A film director will need some technical film directing skills, such as the ability to interpret a script, the ability to cast actors (or to support a casting director), some photographic skills and a good knowledge of film language.

3. Editor 

Edit the film or TV show To master film or video editing you need to learn how to use your tools efficiently to display the conjuring tricks of storytelling. 

4. Sound recorder   

A sound recorder records sound for a product including music and foley. They have great people skills, put contributors at ease when fitting personal mics and be able to collaborate effectively with other team members to ensure the sound fits with the visuals Problem-solving: be resourceful and find effective solutions to technical problems and recording challenges

5. Radio presenter 

A radio presenter is someone who presents a radio show. Their responsibilities include choosing songs, introducing guests they are also the main face of the brand/show. To be a radio presenter you need to have good communication skills and be confident. 

6. Special effects editor 

These people edit special effects into a film or tv show such as VFX. To be a good video editor you need to be good with computers and editing softwares. To be able communicate with the director and producer who know what special effects want to be put into the edit. 

7. Script writer 

A script writer will be in charge of writing the screenplay which is part of the pre-production process. Skills to complete this role is storytelling, good English skills and have a good imagination to come up with a good story. 

8. Folly artist 

A foley artist uses objects to make sounds for a production, this makes the sound in a production better. Good skills to have this include being imaginative as you have to think about what sounds to use as well as creative. 

9. Actor 

An actor performs scripts and brings characters to life in a production. Good skills include public speaking, being able to act, reading and memorising skills. 

10. Runner 

A runner has the responsibility of taking of 'small' jobs that are happening on a production such as get a prop, help an actor get change. Skills include listening skills as you are taking orders from people on the production such as the director. 


Task 2:  Investigate role in the media 

Camera man 

They perate a camera and Camera operators must be creative. They need excellent visual skills and eye-hand coordination. The ability to pay attention to detail is also essential. 

Practical and technical skills

Practical and technical skills of being a cameraman include having good cinematography knowledge and having a good eye for what looks well in a shot. You also have to have good knowledge of how to use a camera and what lens work for the best shot. 

Industry Knowledge
Industry knowledge can include what do the directors want from you and what type of production you are working on. For example, a film will have a bigger set so you need to know what type of set you need to work on. 

Communication
Good communication is important because you have to speak to directors and actors to understand what the best shot will be for the production. As well as oral communication they also need to be good at written communication such as emails so you can get jobs. 

Creativity
You have to be creative because you can experiment with different types of shots and angles and achieve a certain look that the director hadn't thought of. Another way of a camera operator being creative is by knowing how to get a good shot and achieve a good angle. 

Problem Solving
A problem that might happen on set for a camera operator is technical issues. For example if your camera breaks or you run out of storage. By having good problem solving skills it will save time on set for everyone. 

Working as a team
A camera operator works with a lot of different roles on set this includes the director and the other camera operators even the actors. If you have a disagreement with someone on set it puts the production back, you also need to have professional etiquette and go along with what the director wants as it is there production. 

Wider Responsibilities
These include looking after equipment so it doesn't take more out of your budget. Another responsibility is having professional ettiequte and being on time, if you aren't on time for the production it gets delayed and will cost money. Releasing information can also be an issue as you don't want to give away what the production is before it is released. 


Task 3: Career Pathways


Further Education

The first step to becoming a camera operator is to earn a bachelor's degree. Most universities offer bachelor's degrees in creative arts, through which you can major in screen arts. This is a degree you can complete at Leeds Beckett, it helps with knowledge of being a camera operator. 


Task 4: Professional etiquette

It is a position in employment.  


professional etiquette in camera operator needing to be quite during filming make sure you there on time for studies are expensive.  



the camera man is important because the media can not be filmed without them and will effect everyone in the hierarchy and will cost money if not done right and will stop production
